Modular Intake Tube Easy Installation on my 2007 Silverado 4.8L (new body style)By vncegngerThis took me about 10 minutes (in the dark) to install and the truck sounds 'throatier' when revving the engine w/o being annoying or loud. This is a very good quality piece, and the instructions were clear and easy. I basically now have an Airaid Jr. Kit since I already had a K&N filter installed in the stock filter box. I haven't driven the vehicle enough to comment on any gas mileage or throttle improvements, but will post back when I do. With the stock intake tube and filter box, and a K&N filter, I typically got 19 mpg highway under easy driving conditions. I was a bit skeptical about spending $125 on the MIT, but the throatier sound is worth it to me (and Amazon is great!). I typically don't give 5-star ratings ever....but if it was under $100, I would give it 5-stars. I was a little nervous about it because Amazon says that it WON'T fit the 98 Cherokee Sport. I punched in the item number on Summitracing however and they said it would not only fit, but was DESIGNED for it. They were right. I ordered it through Amazon to take advantage of the free shipping, and the cost may have been a few dollars lower. Shipping was fast, tracking was accurate which was nice. Very easy install, all the tiny pieces were very carefully wrapped and sorted and it wasnt short any nuts or bolts as can usually happen. You will need a flathead screwdriver, a small Allen wrench, a small phillips screwdriver, a small boxwrench. The quality of the parts is good, especially the spacer itself which is solid, kind of heavy with a good finish, and everything fits nicely. Instructions provided are somehow okay, but even having installed spacers before, I had to call the manufacturer to confirm what side of the spacer will fit with the throttle body. Definitively, instructions can be improved by some margin. Also, since I installed the spacer, my Jeep seems to be running smoother and I kind of like better its new sound--I guess this is a bit subjective. In regards to improved mileage, I suggest to track mileage and fuel consumption for several weeks, provided the same thing was done for some time before installing the spacer, so a more objective comparison can be made.
